A Lil' Weekend Hunting

so while i was out helping my good friend s organize her black and white (and now with a hint of green) room, the husband, c, was out hunting for a cause.

this last weekend was the 3rd annual wild boar hunting expo and c and a few man friends decided to enter the hunting contest. well, lo and behold, after two straight days of running through woods, catching boars, and field dressing them, they got 4th place out of 73! i am so proud of my man because his hobby/passion was finally recognized.

see? that's them in fourth place. fat boy outfitters. he and his man friends recently started a hog removal service, as there are many ranches and farms around here that are plagued with them.

and the best part? 28, 000+ pounds of pork were donated to feed the hungry of the greater texas area.

A Few Crafty Things

okay, so here are a few things i've been working on recently...

simplicity 3835. my pillowcase shirt. in a recent fit of craftiness, i cut up some pillowcases since i didn't have any fabric in my nonexistent stash...and i must say, i really like the way it turned out. it was a little plain, so i added a good luck charm: an embroidered horseshoe. now if i only had some red rick rack...

onesies. a friend of mine is due in may and i find myself thinking of all the cute baby things i could be making, and how cute baby things are, and how tiny newborn onesies are, and...i could go on forever!

and last but not least, man shirt to me shirt. after stumbling on this blog, i decided to test my newly acquired sewing skills by reconstructing men's dress shirts. here's one recon that i'm really happy with. now if only it would warm up just a little...

so, there you go. i'm sure i'll have some more projects to post in the near future, as i plan to make some more summery shirts out of simplicity 3835 whenever the mood strikes.

Hello, world.

Let me introduce myself. Like the About me says, I'm a craft ninja: teaching during the day and crafting in any spare time that's left. I'm married to a great guy, C we'll call him, who's a hunting ninja: electrician by day, hog slayer by night (and weekend). I grew up in the big city, but now call small town Texas our home. I enjoy embroidery, hunting (yes, we eat everything we kill), reading, and recently (thanks to my fabulous new machine) took up sewing. Oh, and we're in the very long process of building our own house, sans contractor. So, in a nutshell, that's me and that's what you'll get: a mix of crafty posts, house building/troubles posts, hunting posts, and just life in general. Welcome.
